The word Naja in the native language of the Navajo People, means ‘crescent shape’ or ‘curve’. In the Native American culture it is a symbol of the spiritual aspects of femininity, such as intuition, creativity and wisdom. The Naja horseshoe shape was used to decorate the horse bridles of the Spanish and it was also seen as a symbol to ward off the evil eye for horse and rider.
I carved this Naja in wax and hand cast it in sterling silver. I lightly patinaed the 30” long sterling silver chain and embellished it with tiny turquoise beads. It's got a lovely and substantial weight to it. You'll love wearing it! Special piece for sure.
